An Old Man and the Web

I’d have to say that blogging doesn’t come easy for someone like me. I enjoy the internet, with all the information and such that is so easy to access. But it doesn’t come easy. People my age understand tangible things better - Offices, where everything is on paper and neatly organized in a filing cabinet.

Adjusting to a new world, where everything is digital has been both a blessing in some ways, and a curse at the same time. I can get so darn frustrated at it that I’d like to take this laptop computer and just chunk it out the back door. When that urge strikes, I just find something else to do for a while. Other times, I’m just amazed at all the things you can do with a computer and the world wide web.

Probably my favorite thing about the internet is email. I know that this has been around for years not, but it makes it so much easier to stay in touch with out-of-town family. I always know what’s going on with my boys and my grandchildren, and that’s truly a blessing.

One thing I’ve got to learn how to do, is place photos on this website. Other ‘blogs’ I’ve visited have photos all over the place, so that’s something I’m going to learn to do.

Introducing myself…

Hello people of the world wide web, Old Man Travis here. I was born back in 1941 in a small town called Brookhaven, Mississippi. I’ve spent my life working in automobile sales, and retired in 2004, and at that time started becoming more familiar with the internet to take up some of my extra time.

Now, most days you’ll find me on the golf course, working in my lawn, or tending to my 7 grandchildren. I’ve been married to Lillian since 1964, and together we have raised 3 children who have in turn, given us our grandchildren.

So why did I start this weblog? That’s a good question. I think I just wanted my own little place on the web. A place to write things that come to my mind, and it will be a good place for my family to be able to look back once I’ve gone on to Glory.

I’m not trying to rope in any readers. If you happen upon this place and want to read along though, you’re mighty welcome to do whatever you like.
